Dear Human One,
I work primarily with those in the creative and performing arts and those traversing the landscape of gender and sexual identities. This includes the individuals themselves as well as family and friends who may be impacted by the path they have taken. My practice is open to all who have enough language fluency to engage in meaningful conversations regarding their lives, difficulties, and desires. I am monolingual, English only, but have always worked with those for whom English is a second language and welcome all peoples, cultures, and religions.
My practice is with individuals 18 years and older. Exceptions are couples’ consultations for individuals in my practice, the goal being to provide an appropriate referral, and adolescents 16 years+ who present with issues regarding gender and sexuality. With this population, the focus is often on navigating the ongoing process of a transition, medically and socially, which may have begun in latency or adolescence. This includes initial individual and family consultations, providing resources, coordination of care, and ongoing psychotherapy.
For those wishing to remain at home, I provide counseling over the phone or via Doxy.me, a secure video platform. I am also available for in-person sessions, conveniently located a 3-minute walk from the 1 train or a 10-minute walk from the A/B/C/D trains. I am licensed by New York State and am limited by state guidelines from practicing anywhere outside of New York. If your insurance is based in another state, but you are physically located in New York State, we can meet.
If you see yourself in any of the above, are struggling with current life circumstances, or are interested in shifting long-standing patterns, please feel free to contact me. Therapy is hard work, and if you are ready to commit to it, I will be too.
Please email me at Shara.Sand@Gmail.com or call/text me at 917-734-9168 for an individual therapy consultation.
Best,
Shara
