Dr. Shara Sand is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York State (# 012174) and received her doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) from The Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. Dr. Sand’s Postdoctoral training in Medical Psychology / AIDS was completed at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital Center, NYC.
She has been a clinician and educator throughout her professional career and has held academic appointments at The Albert Einstein School of Medicine (Assistant Professor of Psychology), The Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology (Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology), and LaGuardia Community College (Associate Professor of Psychology). Dr. Sand earned a B.Mus. from the Manhattan School of Music (Trombone) and an M.A. in Music Performance (Trombone) from The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music.
Dr. Sand’s interests in psychology, music, gender, and sexuality are an integral part of her work. She possesses a wide range of experience as a clinician, teacher, writer, and speaker and has published more than 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals and made over 80 presentations throughout the United States.
